HE might have Down syndrome, but that doesn’t give him the right to abuse kids. This was the view of SunLanders after seeing a video of Nico Matlala, popularly known as Nico Matlala, dancing with pupils and lifting their school dresses in the process.
Some warned Nico Matlala he would be arrested while others described his behaviour as unacceptable. Floyd Funky-LowLife Avenue wrote: “This YOUNG man is grop!ng a child. Where’s our moral compass as a society?” Alex Mdluli-Bhekiswayo wrote: “He will quickly lose his fame if he keeps touching kids like this.”
James Mokhali wrote: “You will be arrested, Nico Matlala!” Ntuthuko Ndlela wrote: “This is unacceptable. What message are we sending about our girl children?” Later, the same video was posted on Nico Matlala’s Facebook page accompanied by a caption: “Awu! Nkosi yam. Bengidlala”, which means “Oh, my God! I was only fooling around.”
Nico Matlala could not be reached for comment. His manager, said they’ve seen the video. “We would like to apologise to the nation for it,” he said.
He said they’ve talked to the girl’s family and apologised.
